    • Bingo-we always need helpers for those that are hard of hearing or vision impaired.
    • Card making-The Residents love to make cards for their families. We have supplies, but could always make more cards if we had the help.
    • Crafters-We could offer more crafts if we had more people. We have the supplies.
    • Be-ers, not to be confused with alcohol. We need people to come join our entertainment and just be with someone. Be-ers help our Residents feel like they be-long. Come to be by someone, stay for the music and the snack.
  • TIME: We don’t place a time commitment on our volunteers, but ideally once or twice a month would be very helpful. We are confident that once you get to know our team, you will want to come back. If the first thing you try doesn’t bring you joy, we will work to find something that does.

• ECHO JANESVILLE
  • Packing food orders
    • We are a closed food pantry, meaning our clients submit a food order with specific requests and the order is completed by an ECHO volunteer. There is a standard food order packing list that informs the contents of a food order.
    • Volunteer hours: Mon – Fri from 8:45 am-11:30 am
  • Afternoon consolidation, stocking, & donation processing
    • When the food pantry is closed, we are looking for volunteers to consolidate and discard expired produce, restock pantry shelves including our freezers and refrigerators, check dates, and stock incoming donations.
    • Volunteer hours: Mon – Thurs anytime between the hours of 1:15 pm-3:30 pm
  • Truck unloading & pantry stocking
    • Assist with unloading our donation truck, weighing donations, and putting away donations in the appropriate storage areas.
    • Examine pantry shelves including refrigerators and freezers to determine what needs to be replenished.

    • Inspect and ensure dates on each item are acceptable and that it falls within guidelines to put into the pantry. Items received in large quantities such as dish soap, laundry soap, and coffee are repackaged to be able to distribute in multiple food orders.

  • ECHO, Inc. hosts a monthly Volunteer Open House the first Thursday of every month at 2 pm where prospective volunteers learn about ECHO, volunteer opportunities, and receive a tour of the facility.

• ORFORDVILLE CUP (CHURCHES UNITED FOR PEOPLE) PANTRY
  • VOLUNTEER TASKS: 
    • Pack food bags for those that come to the church to collect food & toiletries on Thursday mornings
    • On the second week of the month, pack bags for the approximately 18 people that make use of the van delivery by RSVP to receive their food
    • Greet the clients at the curb and complete their shopping list
    • Transfer food and toiletries from the storeroom in the church basement upstairs to the CUP shelves and freezer 
    • Clean the floors & wipe down the shelves regularly
    • Accept the Second Harvest commodities every month
    • Inventory the items at the end of their Thursday shift and bring up items from the lower level to restock the shelves for the following week 
    • File the required reports regarding the number of clients being served each month and the number of volunteer hours given
  • Generally, we ask three people to give CUP about two hours of their time on their assigned Thursday to meet the client curbside, fill out their order form, and then fill the bag(s) and deliver them to the driver’s vehicle, which is sitting at the portico entrance.
  • The contact number and name are posted on the front door of the church and are also available on social media.  That number is (608) 921 – 2702.  Though the site may have changed over the years, a food pantry of some form has served Orfordville and the surrounding area since just after the end of WW II.

  • The Road Runners (Bulletin Board Runners)
    • The Mission: Be the driving force behind getting our name out into the community! We need a few fabulous folks to help us distribute flyers, posters, and newsletters to local coffee shops, libraries, and community bulletin boards.
    • What You’ll Do: Take a scenic drive, drop off promotional materials, and chat briefly with local business owners who support our cause.

    • Perks: We supply a gas card to keep your tank full, and you can blast your favorite music or podcast while exploring the area!

• ADRC ROCK COUNTY NUTRITION PROGRAM
  • Volunteer Meal Delivery Driver
    • Our Volunteer Meal Delivery Drivers pick up meals and deliver them to homebound residents in Rock County. The average route takes about 2 to 2.5 hours between 10 AM and 1 PM, M-F.   Volunteers are especially needed in Janesville at this time.
    • Time commitment: The average route takes about 2 to 2.5 hours between 10 AM and 1 PM M-F.  The time commitment is up to each volunteer; they can choose to drive daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed.

    • Join us for a fun Saturday filled with activities based on our Summer Library Club theme: Unearth a Story! This event involves kids of all ages, and volunteers will assist with various activities and crafts and/or answer questions about the Summer Library Club.

    • Kids will participate in five sessions that put them in the role of scientist and engineer while they learn through fun, hands-on experiments. Learn about mixtures, materials, friction, and structures. This event is for children from 5 to 8.

    • Work with students to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders! We are a youth development program that teaches building, coding, marketing, business, and teamwork skills through educational robotics. 
    • TIME: We have multiple opportunities: one-time 20-minute speaker, one hour a week for 12 weeks with elementary students, a few hours a week for 3-5 months with middle school students, to 3-10 hours a week year-round with high school students, and options in between.

    • Event Volunteers support HealthNet fundraising events, community outreach activities, and special programs. Responsibilities may include event setup and teardown, registration assistance, guest support, and helping with event activities as needed.
