APRIL – Outdoor & Nature-Based Roles
  • BELOIT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
    • Gardener/Outdoor Maintenance
      • BHS covers a full city block; light maintenance includes picking up trash and fallen trees limbs and keeping the grounds presentable. Gardening and planting flowers may be included
      • TIME: Volunteers can choose to participate in one-day clean up day or volunteer on a regular basis

  • HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN
    • Canine Companion
      • Volunteers take our dogs on walks on our 40 acres of trails as well as taking them in the play yards to run around, play fetch, etc. This volunteer role helps keep our dogs exercised and it is a form of enrichment because of all the smells and scenery outside on our trails!

    • Garden and Grounds Caretakers
      • Help preserve a place that has inspired generations! Whether you can spare an hour or a morning, your hands make a visible difference through rewarding tasks like planting, weeding, watering, and mowing.

  • ROTARY BOTANICAL GARDENS
    • Gardener
      • Assist with various gardening duties & projects including weeding, planting, pruning, and watering to maintain the overall gardens throughout the year
      • TIME: volunteer as available
    • Ambassador
      • Walk the Garden’s paths during open hours or other events to greet visitors, ensure guest safety, and assist with questions as an RBG representative. This is a great opportunity to work in pairs with a friend or spouse.

    • Tour Guide
      • Guide bus tours and other various groups through the Gardens providing information about the Garden’s history, various garden designs, and current RBG initiatives.

MARCH – Animal Care and Support Roles

  • TRIPLE H RANCH & THERAPEUTIC HORSEMANSHIP
    • Horse leading and side walking for therapeutic riding lessons
    • Assisting with barn chores
    • Fix-it projects and gardening around the ranch
    • Feeding the horses and goats
    • Grooming the horses
  • FRIENDS OF NOAH – ALL BREED ANIMAL RESCUE
    • Adoption Center
      • Play with cats and kittens
      • Cleaning and taking care of cats’ living space
      • Interact with the public who visit
    • Foster
      • Temporarily house cats and/or dogs
    • Transport (animal and/or general)
      • Help transport rescue animals
      • Help transport pet food and other necessities
FEBRUARY – Sorting, Organizing, and Donation Support Roles

  • CARITAS COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER
    • Stocker Substitute
      • Assist with keeping the pantry shelves, coolers, and freezers stocked
      • This role is for someone who can assist when a current volunteer is unable to serve
      • Requires lifting up to 25 lbs, standing, and walking
      • Shifts available 9:30-12 or 11:45-2:15 during pantry hours/days
    • Donation Sorter
      • When Caritas receives large donations, this person will assist with checking dates and organizing food
      • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.

  • SSM HEALTH
    • Roles available at Hope Blooms Cancer Care Resource Center or St. Mary’s Hospital Gift Shop
      • Serve customers
      • Sorting and organizing incoming merchandise
      • Restocking inventory
      • Maintaining/cleaning storage areas
      • Assist with counting/rotating stock, labeling, keeping shelves tidy
    • Family Birth Center role
      • Behind-the-scenes support
      • Organize supplies
      • Manage storage closets
      • Help track inventory
      • Sort deliveries
      • Restock patient care areas
    • Requirements: 18 years or older, pass background check, complete employee health immunizations
    • Approximately 4 hours per week

    • Afternoon Consolidation, Stocking and Donation Processing
      • Consolidate and discard expired products
      • Restock pantry shelves including freezers and fridges

      • Monday-Thursday anytime between 1:15-3:30 PM

      • Greet guest and visitors

      • TIME: one day per week; flexible shifts: 2, 4, or 8 hours
